In the midst of all of controversy around the funding being cut for the Niagara Arts and Cultural Center, I began brainstorming some ideas to raise funds to continue the great progress the organization is making in revitalizing the former Niagara Falls High School building on Pine Avenue. In several cities around the country including Buffalo, non-profit organizations have organized mini timed races up to the top of the community's largest structure and rewarded the best times with various prizes. While this idea may not bring in an enormous amount of revenue for the organization, it would help raise awareness of the organization, bring folks downtown, and recognize local historic landmarks. Its a win-win idea from all the angles I see.
What do you think?
